I am trying to make my very own "CGI DemoReel".
So this question is for you Lightwave Professional Types
in the bigger animation houses(in other words, not one
prostitute animator with two toasters making logos
for a local,smalltime TV station. ME :) )...
What Exactly should go In a demo reel?
Is it a specific demo reel for a specific person ?
(i.e. space anims for game company ; logos for TV station)
Or is it just one well rounded reel?
How long in terms of seconds of animation should it be?
What format for the reels? (vhs, s-vhs, hi-8, betamax, 3/4")
Does it have to have sound effects/soundtrack?
Does it have to be full storyboarded animations? if so how long?
Is it useless to make a demoreel with only one graphics package? (LW)
What do the Pro's consider a "green" animator?
or What kind of quality is Pro?
Do certain genres turn Pro's off ?
(in other words do you guys get sick of space/sub reels?)
And where or who do I send reels to?
(not specific persons so much, but how to go about getting this info?)
I have countless other questions but that's enough for now.
I would really appreciate your answers! (remember yourselves some years ago)
e-mail is fine, if you don't want to post on the list.
